“I just received word that Pastor Gennady in Prague is in the hospital because of a building accident. He accidentally sawed off 1 or 2 fingers of his right hand and the doctors are trying to put them back on. Please pray for him and the doctors.”

We have since received this update from Alex in Prague, who talked to Andrey, Gennady’s son: “Jim, the surgery has finished, 2 fingers were replaced back on Gennady’s request, on his own risk, because of the infection possibility. So, let’s pray now that there won’t be any infection and both fingers grow together well with the palm! (left hand not right).”

Thank you all for your concern and prayers for our dear brother and partner in church planting. I will send an update when we receive more news.

The Gomez’s – Guatemala

Dear Prayer Fellows,

Blessings to you all from GCE and the CHE Meso-America Region!

To make it easier for you I am copying here our latest post on our website www.globalche.org under the tab “Prayer” but we would like to remind you to visit it.

Prayer update as of December 15, 2011.

Praises to the Lord:

1) For the week of November 13-20 the STM Women’s team from Mission Community Church Arizona who worked along the CHE women in the villages of Chirramos and Chicoz. By working spiritual lessons through handicrafts and home visits thrust was given to the micro-enterprise projects and the relationship built even more.

2) About the Water Wells and medical teams in a row which began on November 19. They came from Deer Creek Church and Littleton Bible Chapel in Colorado led by the Douglas brothers plus the Women’s team and Water team from Calvary Church Muscatine Iowa led by Jim and Jeanne Mott. These teams served both in Guatemala and Honduras in multiple villages. Gracefully by December 10 everyone went back home sharing the blessings they saw here working with the CHE teams as well as the blessings brought to the local people.

3) Regarding the CHE Woman Training of Trainers Seminar November 28–December 3 to CHEs from Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. Our Master CHE Woman Trainers from Nicaragua conducted the training. God provided in His timing through Mission Community Church. They gathered here in Quetzaltenango.

4) For Mario and Christa (our children attending school in Texas) will be able to come home for Christmas season.

5) About Miriam’s health continuing to see God’s Powerful Healing Hand.

Requests before the Throne:

1)For the new converts—including 2 former witch doctors– to be properly followed up and discipled by the local CHE teams in the CHE villages and Churches.

2) For the new CHE Woman Trainees which were together here for a first time ever in the CHE Mesoamerica Region November 28 through December 3 That they will increase commitment to the Lord and grow in ministry to reach countless women, families and communities for the Kingdom of God.

3) For the Board of Directors in Global CHE Enterprises about to appoint new Chairman and to re-structure the other duties to serve better.

4) For the Short Term Mission Team from Calvary Methodist Church Maryland led by Board Member Nelson Gardner to serve in the CHE Village of Monte Cristo January

5) For Tom and Diane Schieffer scheduled Jan 4-15 to do preparations for the Veterinarian STM to CHE Villages later in the year (May).

6) For the STM Team from Calvary Meth Church Annapolis coming January 14-22 to serve with the CHEs in Monte Cristo Guatemala.

7) For Mike and Peggy Elliot from Community United Meth Church Crofton MD coming in January to do preparations for STM team in the Summer.

Gal 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Your fellow servants

Hugo and Miriam.

for the whole GCE CHE Mesoamerica Region.

Jim Liljegren

Dear Family and Friends,

We are finishing up 2 good days here in Napoli or Naples, Italy. Gennady, Vova, and I arrived about the same time on Thursday as did Ilya the new church planter from Fresno. He will be here 5 weeks to find an apartment for his family and set up the ministry. We met with the local Italian Baptist pastor for his support. We have been going to different locations putting up posters and passing out fliers informing Russian speaking people of the first Bible Study meeting this Sunday at 2pm at the Italian Baptist Church. There are already 10 to 12 Russian speaking people who meet from time to time as a group. They just need a leader. Ilya is a very good evangelist and mature man of God. He is just perfect for this ministry. Pray that this group will catch a vision for reaching their Russian speaking community with the gospel and accept Ilya as pastor and leader. Thank God for the support of the Italian Baptist Church.

I want to bring an American team here as soon as I can which will probably be the summer of 2013. We need to wait until Ilya and family settle in sometime in 2012 and establish this ministry.

Sunday we will attend the Italian Baptist Church service and fly back to Prague. Barbara is now in Moscow. We will meet in Frankfurt and fly home together on Monday, Nov. 7th.

Thank you so much for your faithful prayers. This has been a long but productive trip…slava bogu!!!

Love to all,

Jim

Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you, again, for your faithful prayer support.
Barbara especially needs prayer as she is trying to coordinate plans to bring a lady with a large facial tumor to Moscow with her on the train this week. She was trying to get word from a doctor in Moscow that has seen the woman’s medical records and then get her train tickets. You can’t really wait to long to get these tickets. Pray that all of this can be coordinated and that Barbara will be able to get a cost of the operation and other details. Barbara continues with many daily appointments as many ladies want to meet with her before she leaves Saransk.

Here is Czech Republic: I met with Igor, one of the summer camp leaders and we evaluated this past summer’s camp. We both agreed that God blessed with 18 Americans and 125 Russians, and 6 people responded to the Gospel. Here are the dates of the Czech ministry for 2012 including our 7th annual English Family Camp: July 4 – 17. We will need 12-15 Americans to participate in this camp. Pray for those 6 who repented and for another fruitful camp next summer.

This morning Gennady and I met with Tony Peck who is the General Secretary of the European Baptist Union. Gennady is forming his own organization of Russian speaking churches in Europe. His organization will be an affiliate member of the EBU.

Then, this afternoon, Gennady, Alex (who came to Christ at the 2009 camp) and I went to a large Refugee Camp to encourage many who have attended our camps over the last few years. We also met several Muslims who attended our gathering. Pray for Adul from Moracco who is considering trusting Christ as his savior. He has my email address. Pray that he will communicate with me.

Tomorrow, Gennady, Vova (my interpreter), and I fly to Naples, Italy for 4 days. We will meet Ilya from Fresno who arrived there today to begin a 5 yr church planting venture with his family. I may bring a small evangelism team there this coming summer.

Blessed to be a blessing,

Jim and Barbara
Pray for safety and good connections on trains and planes and transfers between arrivals and departures.
Pray for good planning and execution, particularly recruiting team members, as those plans move ahead to fruition in the Summer Missions Teams.

Dear Family and Friends,

I just had to write a short update on the 10th Anniversary Service of Comfort Baptist Church near St. Petersburg in which I participated. The church meets in the gym of the German orphanage and was decked out with colorful balloons and huge wall posters. Several pastors came to give their blessing to the church. There were two unique dramas and a children’s choir. Gennady Gavrilov, the founding pastor, shared his memories and I added some of my own. (I have brought many American teams here since the beginning in 2001.) Sasha Kurmaev, the pastor, was beaming the whole service!

Two interpreters from Pskov took a 5 hr bus ride and came to the service: Masha and Dasha. Masha repented at the Extreme Youth Camp this past summer. Please pray for Dasha to repent. She really enjoyed the service. I had the opportunity to lead her boyfriend to the Lord this summer in Pskov. Please pray for him (Alexander). He does not have email so I asked her to see if he could communicate with me somehow.

The highlight of the day was seeing Andrey. He was at the service for the first time since falling and hitting his head on a rock in June and was in a coma for 2 months. He is slowly recovering and we had a brief conversation. He knew who I was. I asked him if he remembered the day when he prayed to receive Christ with me? He did! I love Andrey very much and we expressed our love for each other. Please continue to pray for his complete recovery.

Thank you, again, for your prayer support. We leave for Prague tomorrow night.
Love to all,
Jim

The Faul’s – Brazil

Dear Friends,
Greetings from Brazil! While some parts of the US were experiencing record floods a few months ago, here in Boa Vista there was a record flood as well. For a few days all the roads from Boa Vista had parts that were under water. It really didn’t cause any big problems other than a shortage of gasoline for a few days. Anyway, the river went back down and life went back to normal.
Christina finished high school and came to Brazil to spend a few months here before starting college in the US. Victoria came down for a month during summer break, and has since returned to the US to do her last semester of nursing. She is on track to be graduated from Western Kentucky University in December.
In our last letter we mentioned that there were big changes in the Brazilian Indian Agency, in Indian health, and in Indian education. At that time there was a lot of activity, meetings, planning for conferences, proposals to limit what missionaries could do, etc. Actually things have gotten very quiet since then. So, we as a mission continue to do what we have been doing.
We are working to register the Indian schools with the department of education. Basically, the missionaries started two schools years ago in two Indian villages, when the education department just was not able to do anything to establish and operate schools in these villages. Now, the education department wants these schools to be “official,” so we are scrambling to do all the things necessary to have “official” schools.
A few years ago, the Christian Indian pastors and leaders from all of Brazil formed an organization to strengthen the indigenous church. They have had conferences in various parts of the country, and are planning a conference here in Boa Vista for the 17th to the 20th of November. Tim is on the organizing committee. Wow! This Indian organization is very loosely organized, so there is a LOT of organizing to be done to put this conference together.
We do expect that as the Yanomami Christians participate in this conference, they will see that there are other Indian churches in Brazil, and that these other churches face similar problems. We trust that they will be encouraged to continue to develop as followers of Jesus Christ, to truly live transformed lives, and to share this good news with their neighbors and relatives who don’t already know.
Join us in prayer that:
• The Yanomami believers would really grow and mature in their faith,
• That we would have much wisdom in the bureaucratic situations we face,
• Victoria and Christina would continue to do well in their schooling.
Tim and Beth Faul

Dear Family and Friends,
We are now in Pskov where we are helping Alexander Hubeev plant a new church. This past summer we had our 4th team working here. Today we again looked at a piece of land for sale that we originally thought was too small. However, we can build a small “House of Prayer” on this land with a second floor for a staff member. Alexander is finding out if the city will approved such a thing. This building would greatly enhance his ministry. When we arrived yesterday afternoon, he was a little down about his ministry. Pray for Alexander that he will be encouraged and see fruit.

Last night we stayed at a new Rehab center in a village called Lapitova. We had a 3 hour service with the guys in this center. This morning after more talk and prayer, we visited a “house of prayer” in this village that had burned down and now is reconstructed. When I walked in I thought a building similar to this would be just great for Alexander. Please pray about this possibility. More details later.
On to Petrozavodsk tonight. Pray for safe travel.
Much love,
Jim

Dear Family and Friends,

It is 5pm in Saransk and Vova, my interpreter, and I are packing now for the night train to Moscow. Today Barbara and I attended New Life Church. I gave greetings to the church from Agoura Bible Fellowship and the many people from our church who have participated in team ministry here. Pastor Vladimir asked us and Ron and Mary Mariani (from Folsom…here with us) to come to the platform and he thanked us for our ministry and prayed for us. Barbara will remain here until Nov. 4th. We first came here in 1996. Pray for Barbara as she has many important meetings during her remaining time with ladies groups and individuals. Many don’t know the Lord at all.

This afternoon Vova and I attended the New Life Church youth meeting. There was a sweet spirit with the leadership of Anton, who came to Christ thru Ron and |Mary several years ago. There were 10 students at the meeting. This is a good beginning.

I leave Saransk very fulfilled and pleased with the contacts I made with so many people and leaders. The one regret is not seeing Maxim. Barbara and I did meet with Vera, his mother, right after the service today. She was in tears most of the time. She has only been to see Maxim in prison once and she waited 4 hours and had only 10 minutes with him. He looked ok and was thrilled to see her. He gets only 4 visits per year. He sleeps in a large room of 70 men. The guards were yelling at her much of the waiting time. Please continue to pray for him (and her)…for protection, spiritual zeal to continue, and hope.

Again, thank you for your faithful prayers.

In Moscow, Vova, Gennady, and I will meet with the Vice President of the Russian Baptist Union and the main Youth Coordinator. Then, in the evening, we fly to St. Petersburg.

Love to all,

Jim

Dear Family and Friends,

Your prayers are helping us! Keep praying! We have averaged 5 – 6 appointments per day of various kinds the last 3 days. We wore out our interpreter today! Tues night we had a group of youth in our host home. 9 of them came including 3 unbelievers. Vova, my interpreter, led the meeting. He sang some songs and I gave my testimony and the Gospel. They hung out for hours after the meeting! We are developing great relationships with the unbelievers. Pray for Vanya (John) who was at the teen meeting and I will see him on Friday. Also, pray for Sasha and Alyona to be open to the Gospel message. Almost every time we take a taxi, the driver gets a good dose of the Gospel with a tract (with a number to call on the back) and a small new testament.

I will not see Maxim in prison as I found out it could be dangerous for him to be seen with me, an American. I am disappointed but I totally understand.

Please pray for 12 yr old Daniel, who was let down by his absent father, laughed at by his friends, and tried to hang himself on Monday. His grandmother raises 4 children by herself. She broke the lock on his door and took him down before it was too late.

She shared this at Barbara’s Monday night Bible study, where 3 other non-Christian neighbors asked many hard questions and joined in a lively discussion with the New Life sisters.

Love to all,

Jim and Barbara

Forwarded message just arrived from Jim. I’m sending immediately because I failed to send out their message “We are now in Saransk meeting with many of our beloved friends. …” message from Saturday. I don’t want to get distracted again.

You will see in Jim’s message great opportunities to Praise Our Lord, and several gospel opportunities to take to the foot of the cross and cast them up on Jesus. Pray for His Spirits action to reach the hearts and souls of those who heard, or will hear, the gospel through these activities.

Beseech the Lord to provide wisdom and direction for Jim in connection with his desire to meet with his dear disciple Maxim who is in prison. The opposition being encountered could be from the enemy or from the Spirit for Maxim’s protection. Pray for discernment.

———————————————————————————————————-
Dear Family and Friends,

Finally got a moment to write with lots of things happening here in Saransk. Sunday night’s concert at the old downtown house church (Victor, Pastor) was a huge success. This church of about 10 older saints hasn’t seen anything like this for decades!!! The church was full of musicians and people from other churches that we had helped plant plus some nonbelievers. We had a fantastic concert and 2 sermons (Victor and Gennady). During Gennady’s sermon a man came up front and knelt to rededicate himself to God. Gennady stopped his message and put a hand on his shoulder as the man cried and told God he was sorry for his sin!!! The fellowship after the service was electric as we saw people we had not seen for a number of years. How sweet and loving these relationships are. I had a chance to make several appointments with young people who wanted to talk to me. Today, I had one of them with Misha, the son of Sveta, the invalid. He is 19 and repented this August at a youth conference. His life is totally changed we met tonight for 2 1/2 hours studying the Gospel and what it means. Tomorrow night he wants to bring a friend or two to a spontaneous youth gathering in our apartment. Vova, my interpreter from Prague, will lead worship and sing and I will speak. Pray for this meeting. Still no word on my visit to Maxim. Seems that there is lots of opposition to it from several fronts. Pray for wisdom. I really want to see him. If we go, it will be 3 hrs by car to the other side of Mordovia. I really want to go.

Thanks for your prayers. Barbara met with a ladies Bible study group tonight and shared the Gospel with new people who came to the study. God is working and we can hardly keep up with Him!

Much love,
Jim and Barbara
————————————————-
Thank you again for your faithfulness in prayer,
IHS,
Peter

Kilimanjaro in East Africa with the goal of reaching the summit of almost 20,000 feet. Our goal is to ascend the highest mountain in Africa in order to reach the lowest valley in the world. The Rift Valley is the largest, lowest, and longest valley in the world stretching from South Africa all the way past the Dead Sea in Israel. You need to know that our “High 5” missionary team members are paying for this awesome mountain climb, and we are trusting the Lord’s people to pay for our descent into the valley of the shadow of death.

As you have no doubt heard on the news, the famine and drought in East Africa is severe. Most of the animals have died and the few that are left are so weak they are about to die. The nomadic Maasai tribes people have been dependant upon their cows for centuries. Now they are dependant upon God and God’s people. This is God’s plan and time for the Maasai.

Lordwilling, we shall first minister to orphans and widows in the Korogocho slum together with the Africa Hope Ministries of Caroline Sarah, Susan Nyambura, and Aggrey Juma. Then after climbing Kilimanjaro, we shall participate in the launching of Africa Hope Bible Institute with the Maasai tribe on Oct. 19, 2011 and continue teaching the Maasai students the Word of God.

Finally, we shall participate in the dedication celebration of the two brand new water wells at the Children’s Church and Amboseli~Kimana Church on Saturday & Sunday! Streams of life~giving water are now flowing in the desert and refreshing the Maasai in this parched land. This will be a great celebration of joy! Please pray for “Springs of Living Water” to spring up within every soul in Jesus Name as we preach Christ and Him crucified, risen, and coming again!

As of this writing, our team is trusting the Lord not only for their own missionary support to descend into this valley of decision ministry, but also for $5,000 of “pure religion”(James 1:27), healing and hope for Kenya. Team members are now assembling “Africa Hope Gift Bags” and working on the procurement of many needed supplies for this mission. We will hand-deliver as much humanitarian aid, supplies, and needed finances as we can carry in country.

> Masha and 18 month old Ivan, now on the train from Saransk to Moscow for further surgery to correct tangled intestines. Pray for Ivan’s healing and that God will provide the full cost (estimated at $2K) of the travel and Moscow stay for Masha to be with her baby during this crucial time.
> Andry Shustrykov, an active youth leader in the St. Petersburg church sustained a brain and/or spinal injury in a fall from a rock. We received a report that Andry moved his leg on Saturday but that he remains in a coma. Please pray for healing.

Well we finally made it to Flagstaff, AZ on the first leg of our journey. You may have heard that we had some car problems along the way and prayed for us. Thanks to a few of our team members we were able to get the problem fixed. Please keep that in prayer for the rest of the trip along with the ministry at the House of Prayer Church. We’ve had a great day of fellowship together even though it took us “a little longer” than we would have liked. Perhaps God was protecting us from something further down the road. Delays may be difficult from a human perspective but they’re divine from a heavenly one… even if we don’t know the reason.

Tomorrow we have another half day of driving and then begin ministry in New Mexico. Keep the Czech Republic Team in your prayers as well.

Blessings,

New Mexico Team

Hey Mark

Quick update here since I’m borrowing a laptop and am on borrowed time. Things are going GREAT here at camp. Brian, Caleb, and I are doing very well with the team working in the English classes, playing games witht the other campers, and witnessing to them. The Russian people have taken to us, and we are taken by them. We have developed some STRONG relationships here. I just told Wendy via email that the only thing that will eclipse my sadness of leaving our new friends here is that I get to return to her and the kids. This work here is very addicting. Well, I’m off to an “Uno party.” The Uno card game is very popular here this week and is a great way to interact with people. We may stay up until midnight or later playing.

Slava Bogu (Praise the Lord!)

Dear Family and Friends,

We are now into our 3rd day of ministry here at the Family Camp. More people are coming each day. All ministries are producing fruit. The English classes are one of the best means to get to know people. I have 15 in my advanced English class. Most are believers and need encouragement. At the team meeting this morning, several team members asked for prayer for the people at the camp who need the Lord. Please pray for Nikita (15) from Sweden, Natasha, Aven (a Buddhist mother) from the Refugee Camp, Leonid from Jerusalem also from a Refugee Camp in Czech. More names will be added as we spend time with the people God has given to us. Pray for Mike San Martino, who will speak tonight at 7:30pm (10:30am in LA). I have been meeting with several leaders and emerging leaders one on one. I love doing this. Many share deep things that I can hold up to the Lord.

Please keep praying!!!

Much love,

Jim Liljegren
